About

What can I say… I’m a middle aged nerd with fun toys to play with and a brain that gets me into more trouble than not.

But seriously, The Idle Hands Workshop is my playground where I make and sell props spanning a wide range of genres. Many of the items I create come directly from my mind, while other are based either extensively or partially on existing props seen in movies, shows, etc..

Some things to know about me and this site:

  • I don’t have nor will I have sponsors. Everything you see here is funded by me and my full time job and the money I make on the side from my hobbies, crafts, etc. I do this so I can give honest reviews of products without having to be biased because I’m being paid to do a review. In the future I might accept sponsors for something like Monster Energy Drinks or something along those lines that isn’t a tool or something I use in a video if you follow what I mean.
  • I’m a real person, I do all my own projects, learn new things, make mistakes, and share in the adventures that entails. I hope that what I do inspires others to follow suit, learn, grow, and enjoy a wide variety of crafts and hobbies while learning new skills.
  • I’m almost 50 years old, been all over the world, loved life, learned different languages, experienced different cultures, picked up some awkward habits along the way, served in the Army, worked private security and as a bouncer for over 20 years.
  • I’m open for collaborations… have no idea what we could do together but hit me up if there’s something you think we could work on together.

I could go on for a long while about me to be honest, but it’s just a lot of rambling, if you want to get know me, follow me on here, Facebook, Youtube, and comment on things. I respond as best I can. Work keeps me pretty busy especially lately with my flip-flop schedule of 3 night shifts and 2 day shifts with split days off. This may change in the near future but for now it is what it is and I’m making the best of it. Hell, it’s 3 in the morning and I’m working on my site so I can be on schedule for work tonight.

If there’s something you want to know how to do or need help with something, ask. I’m quite fond of that adage “There’s no such thing as a stupid question” even though I’ve had people ask some REALLY stupid questions in my time… I could write a book about that, prolly should one day.

As far as interests go… my wife is the biggest, she’s just the neatest thing on the planet and keeps getting more and more interesting the longer we’re together. Coming in after that would be Doctor Who… so in love with damn near EVERYTHING Doctor Who that I’ve even created my own models and shared them on Thingiverse. I like reading, drawing, long walks on the beach, holding hands… wait, no… that’s a movie… I hate the beach, sand gets in places you don’t want sand, holding hands gets yours hands all sweaty and sticky lol. I like a lot of things and if you follow along on the site you’ll get a good idea of what I like and don’t like. And major props if you ever get to know me well enough to name my two favorite alcoholic drinks in order of preference.

So there you have it, a nice health ABOUT page…. want more, use the CONTACT page to get a hold of me. I generally answer within a few hours, 8-10 hours if I have to work.

Here’s some pics to enjoy of me and my family on our yearly pilgrimage to New Orleans for our wedding anniversary picture we take every year in front of the chapel we were married in. They’re not in any particular order and include a couple of spots like the WWII Museum and one of the cemeteries. These are also all before I had MY gastric bypass so if I look a bit on the chubby side, it’s because I am in these pics.
