So I have been sitting here while my shoulder heals ( yeah yeah yeah, you’re sick of hearing about my damn shoulder and I’m sick of it hurting which makes it a bit hard to ignore ) I’ve been able to watch a lot of instructional and informative videos on YouTube.
With more and more people hitting the internet, many for the first time, looking for information, guidance, ideas, help, etc., I just wanted to share something I came across this evening which takes me all the way back to when I was in Boy Scouts ( Pre Scoutmaster Kevin ) and would carry around a pocket knife and a block of wood and carve stuff. There used to be these “kits” you could get that had lines and stuff already drawn onto the block of wood and you just have to carve it out. Great way to pass the time.
Well after my little stroll down memory lane I thought, why not make a quick post and link some things together on here to share with everyone. Not everyone has the skills to do it, no biggie, the point is honestly to get out on the internet and find something you CAN do.
So let’s start off with the wood carving I mentioned already. This just popped up on my suggested/recommended feed over on YouTube and this guy shows you how to make some REALLY nice little Halloween Spooky Trees in this video:
This is just the tip of the iceberg really, if you go over to YouTube and see what else this guy shows you how to do you’ll be cursing both our names after you have to buy a second house because you’ve carved so many things you ran out of room. But wait, what if you sold them ??? Can you ???
The short and sweet part of this is yes to both, you can sell them free and clear because simply put, you are not copying and pasting stuff around or stealing something from anyone. Videos like this are there to be shared, to impart something into your life, in this case it’s similar to the Matrix. If you need a new skill, just download it… “I know Kung-Fu”
But wait, there’s more !!!
Another fellow over on YouTube I started watching shows you how to make all kinds of things that you can not only make, but it’s his intention that YOU SELL WHAT YOU MAKE !!! Now I am skeptical on this and the wife and I are about to give his Christmas tree ideas a try, I’ve already got one out in the shop waiting on the glue to dry so we’ll see later on today what it looks like.
His name is Matthew Peech and yeah, you don’t need a whole shop full of tools either. So far I used my table saw, yeah, one tool, and there’s a lot of ways you can even do this stuff by hand if you don’t have a table saw or room for any big tools and piles of lumber to work from.
So there’s two different people from entirely different walks of life, sharing their knowledge with you and empowering you to do this for yourself and make money doing it. Not into woodworking ??? Then look up something else, there is literally a metric butt load of tutorials on YouTube and the chances are you can find something that interests you.
Hope this was at least somewhat helpful to someone, I know it has really fired up that last neuron in my head and I am back in the game and making stuff again now that the shop is cleaned up.
