6-15-23: Doing more research on the Defiance line I stumbled across a unique bit brace with a conflicting model number. It was sold as a Defiance 1253, of which I own one, just not like this.

Defiance 1253 Corner Ratchet Bit Brace – I suspect that the chuck from an actual 1253 was used to repair this tool as I have not come across any others like it to date. As always, once I find more info I’ll share it
