So while surfing around the interwebs I came across a couple of pictures of the No. 890 Defiance tool chest and it has a picture of the manifest for what goes in it !!!
While I am just now starting on my Defiance 891 Tool Chest restoration it will be some time before I get around to getting one of these to restore but this is a very valuable bit on research information. It’s easy to find the chests themselves but getting all the right tools is the hardest part. As of this writing this is the only such manifest I have seen.
So here’s what it says for those who aren’t able to view the pictures:
Handy Man Tool Set No. 890 – The following items are packed in this tool chest:
- 1 No. 112-13 oz. Nail Hammer
- 1 No. 96-6 ft. ZigZag Rule
- 1 No. 1270-4 in. Screw Driver
- 1 No. 1277-3 in. Screw Driver
- 1 No. 1253 Bit Brace
- 1 Auger Bit – 5/16 in.
- 1 No. 1214 Hand Drill
- 2 Drill points in envelope
- 1 No. 1251 1/2 in. Chisel
- 1 No. 1243 Bench Plane
- 1 No. 107-12 in. Level
- 1 Saw, 16 in.
- 1 No. 1211-3/4 2/32 in. Nail Set
- 1 No. 1201 Brad Awl
- 1 Pair Pliers 6 in.
- 1 No. 1280 Try Square
- 1 Package Sand Paper
- 1 Plan Book
Now some of you might be asking, how do you know it’s a Defiance tool chest and not a Handy Man tool chest?
The answer is simple for this one… it says so on the box, on the sticker, and none of the included tools carry the “H” designation in front of the model number ( ex. H1204 vs. 1204 ).
So there you have it, the Stanley Defiance No. 890 Tool Chest. Here’s some more pics of what the entire chest looks like:
