It arrived today in a large box and inside, wrapped up in enough bubble wrap to protect an elephant from a tactical nuke. Kudos to the seller for packing it !!!
It’s in rough shape but it’s here, I now own the Montgomery Ward and Co. Eclipse 1205 Hand Plane which is just a rebranded Stanley Defiance but with a cool look and name lol.
Right off the bat the knob needs to be replaced, the tote is being held on with some leather at the base for a spacer and the frog is seized up. The chip breaker, iron, and lever cap look to be in good shape and the body needs some love but it’s intact and doesn’t appear to be too bad off. So this will be the next restoration project I undertake once the Defiance 1203 is sitting with her bigger brothers.
