Vevor 130a MIG Welder – Review

So I’ve had this little gem for about a month or so now and have been using it for renovating our horse trailer. Right from the start, unboxing this, I knew it was going to be a fun and useful machine for my workshop. I had been a welder a long time back for a company and we made truck bed tool boxes and I also did some side work at a paper mill when needed so I have a pretty good idea of what good welds look like and how a machine should work.

All that being said I was just floored by this little machine. Back in the day we had to use separate machines for MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux but this machine can do all of it !!! One machine able to do all of those things with simply moving a plug and turning some knobs… I was shocked.

Apparently from what I’ve learned, Vevor is a company out of Taiwan, this doesn’t matter to me as long as it does what it’s advertised to do. This does it and does it well.

The first thing I can tell you if you’re looking to get this machine, is go ahead and hit up Amazon for some welding the same time you order this. The wire that comes with this machine is absolutely crap, I can’t say anything nice about it. The tolerances of the wire I received with mine were all over the place and on a couple of occasions this caused the drive to not feed the wire because it couldn’t get a hold of it to push through. I highly suggest this wire for both price and quality: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C6DZXRD3. Once I switched the wire to that, I had no problem stacking dimes.

So back to my little welder:

As you can see above, this comes everything you need except gas and wire/sticks. It’s actually a robust little machine and doesn’t feel cheap. There is some plastic on it but the bulk of the box is decent thickness metal. The feed lines are plenty long enough as is the ground wire. One thing I noticed that I liked about the ground wire is the copper braid that goes between the jaws, this will help to ensure you get a good ground connection. I didn’t even bother with the little glasses that came with it and instead purchased an auto-tinting welding hood from Vevor as well.

I’ve presently got about 30 hours on this machine now and it hasn’t given me any problems aside from the wire that came with it. All in all, for the price I think this is a big win for anyone looking to add a small welder to their workshop arsenal.
