Vevor is a company very similar in quality and pricing to Harbor Freight. They are based in Shanghai China ( oh I can already hear the boos and hisses ). The company was founded in 2007 and has been offering a wide range of tools and equipment that might appeal to many crafters and hobbyists.
So far I have been able to purchase a few things from Vevor and I have zero complaints about them. The welder is awesome and so packed with features it’s off the chain. My welding hood also came from Vevor and I am still in shock how it works because back when I first started welding we didn’t have those fancy auto-tinting lenses.
Recently I have also purchased a CNC machine for the shop that is just great. It has a footprint similar to my JG Aurora A5 3D printer so being able to have something that works in that same size is great and makes it easy to merge products. It comes with the spindle which is great because many of the other machines I looked at require you to have a compatible router in order to use them, well I wasn’t about to buy a 4th router just for a CNC machine. It’s speed is good, about the same as my FDM 3D printers.
Then comes the forge, admittedly I have to get this setup first but after watching videos, reading the product specs, and inspecting the box, I was very pleased to get this and I know it will get well used once I get it fired up… literally.
As for customer service. I have not had any issues that required customer support. I know I saw several sites loaded with customer complaints but after reading a lot of them before my purchases, it all breaks down to people not reading and just buying something and then getting butt hurt because it’s not exactly what they wanted.
As I try to explain to anyone who asks where to get tools on the cheap, if you go there expecting name brand quality at thrift store prices you’re gonna be sorry. While I would put many of the tools I have against a name brand competitor, there are differences in quality. That being said, ya’ll know I love Wen products, well it’s coming up on almost 10 years that I have been using the bandsaw, drill press, calipers, and some other items I know I’m forgetting about at the moment. The key is to do the regular maintenance on them that you SHOULD be doing with any tool. Even most of my Harbor Freight tools are still in service after years of being used and abused by me. My most recent issue with Harbor Freight was I didn’t tighten the guard on one of my angle grinders and it came off… no biggie.
So back to Vevor… I have not had any bad experiences with them and honestly can’t see any coming up. Just read what’s being offered, research it, hit up YouTube for videos on the products themselves and if you want you can watch some of the videos of people bashing them. I see them as an alternative to Harbor Freight in both quality and pricing, the offering of tools and supplies is similar as well and so far shipping has been incredibly fast often showing up ahead of schedule even for the big boxes.
But yeah, do your damned research, don’t be a chimp pushing buttons expecting a banana. All I can say is read – read – read !!! And for those complaining that it’s a Chinese company, go through your house and tell me just how many “Made in China” stickers/tags you find, just because it says “Made in the USA” doesn’t mean parts weren’t made in China then assembled in the US… oh didn’t see that one coming did ya. Check out some of the big name companies and see where their stuff comes from… again, read !!!
