What to Watch – DIY Wooden Shotglasses NO LATHE REQUIRED !!!

I bet I got your attention with the “NO LATHE REQUIRED” bit didn’t I ??? To be honest I struggled trying to wrap my head around this notion before I even watched several videos, and then I came up with several ways of my own that I could not find videos for so that might be a future video or two.

Typically any curved surface like a glass or mug would be made on a lathe and turned into whatever shape it is you’re shooting for. But how do you made little shotglasses without a lathe if that’s the usual way for making them ??? Watch and learn like I did…

Now if you’re really really wanting to try turning something, check out what Bourbon Moth did to make a “lathe” of sorts:

So another piece to the puzzle would be taking a look at how James over at Wood By Wright makes a pen without a lathe. His process opens up a few more ways to tackle making shotglasses without a lathe:

So to keep this short and to the point, you don’t need a lathe to make roundy things, just a different set of tools and a different perspective on how to go about making roundy things. Other methods could be using a CNC to cut rings and stack them up, same with patterned plywood. There’s a lot of different ways one could go about this, so what are your thoughts on this ??? Have you made any before and if so, how about sending me some pics or a link to a video showing your process so others can enjoy your skills as well.
