WIP – Russian S300-V Missile Complex – Almost There

Spent a LOT of time today cleaning up the topology of the 9S32 “Grill Pan” Radar and with that I was also able to add most of the final details to it, about all that’s left now is the little topper on the mast and then I think that will be a wrap on the whole complex unless I include the 9S15 Obzor “Billboard” Radar.

It’s interesting how the Russians used what, 7-10 DIFFERENT vehicles to deal with a problem. Talk about covering all your bases… welcome to Air Russia… You no fly here !!!

Anyhow, be on the lookout either over the weekend or next week for the models to be released on Wargaming3D and Cults. In the meantime here’s a couple pics of the “Grill Pan” upper radar array itself.

And while we’re at it… on some of the higher detail models I’ve noticed, when you go to open them up in things like Windows native 3D Builder, it will say that there are problems with the file and ask you to fix it. DON’T !!! Just leave it alone and print it, if you can’t get it to print right the way it is then you ask the modeler to take a look and explain the problem you had with it. I know I have had a problem with internal geometry in some of my models that I originally designed for one thing then decided to use for 3D printing and forgot to remove things like the cockpits, engine details, etc… and these can all wreak havoc when you try to 3D print them. So here’s an example of what Windows native 3D Builder will show you and do for you…

Aside from some shading the model is fine, take note of the flat surfaces and the notice in the bottom right to fix the objects.
And this is what “fixing” the objects does…
